A native New Yorker, Tony earned his first of two Bachelor of Architecture degrees when, in 1965,
he was the first American to graduate from the School of Architecture at
the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey, which he attended
as a Fulbright Scholar. His second was in 1966 (w/ honors) from Pratt Institute in ’66.

He earned a graduate degree in urban design in 1967 at Columbia University
where his master’s thesis critic was Aldo Guirgola, FAIA, architect for
Columbus East High School, and a classmate was Michael Ross, FAIA, design architect w/ HHPA
on the COHA Building. He also completed a year of post-graduate studies in planning law
and public policy at Harvard and MIT, which he attended as a Lilly Faculty Fellow.

A registered architect in Indiana since 1971, he established in 1976 . . .
and maintains to this day . . . a sole-practitioner,
Muncie-based, limited-practice firm of COSTELLO + ASSOCIATES.
